Welcoming The New In 2014

Living From The Heart Days 16-30

It is interesting to me that we categorize periods of our life by seconds, minutes, hours, days, and months. There really is no time per se… It’s all right now. I guess it’s easier for us to manage things when we think of things in a smaller picture rather than the larger scheme of things. It makes things less overwhelming in our mind.

I think that what we are looking for the most when we categorize our life in fractions or moments in time is the essence of a “new start”. That’s why we always say, “tomorrow I am going to do this” or “next year it’s going to be different.”

But what if we looked at every moment as an essence or a feeling that we want to embody. The time “2014” is just an indication of you being ready to welcome the new. But why wait until 12am on January 1st to welcome that “New Feeling” or “Fresh Start”; you can do that right now. It’s all right now. Just give yourself permission to be what you want to be right in this moment.

The End Of 2013

I don’t have a a lot of words to describe 2013. 2013 is just a collection of my past thoughts and actions. What I am more interested in is welcoming the new. So I have collected quotes that I have arranged in a gallery to welcome the new year which is also welcoming the “new me”.

I will end this post with a few things that I wish for you for 2014. As you allow yourself to open and be more of who you are without apologies, I am sure all of your deepest longings will come true. Even if you are one of those people out there that has lost faith or hope in something, just know that there is someone out there that is wishing the best for you, even if you can’t find the space in your heart to believe it so.

My Wishes For You

My heart wishes blessings for you, joy and love for you, new opportunities for you, mended relationships for you, stronger bonds for you, open doors for you, peace of mind for you, new beginnings for you, abundance for you, easiness and stability for you, moments that take your breath away, and things that enter your life that are so amazing that they leave you in awe.

I hope your year is filled with all the things that your heart desires. I pray for your mind to be renewed and for you to see life through a loving perspective. I hope this world shows you things you have never seen before and I hope you are able to unveil beautiful pieces of yourself that you never thought imaginable.

Remember sometimes there could be things going on around you, but when you realize what you are made of you will have the strength to sit in the middle of it all and reveal your power. You aren’t meant to struggle your way through this life. You are meant to graciously accept the things that come your way while keeping your eyes and heart on what you would like to experience the most. If the negative can come your way, how many more positive things can come your way with just a small adjustment in the way you look at things.

Keep your head up, know things will get better, and take it one step at a time. You’ll do just fine.

Happy Happy Happy New Year All!

Day 3: Living From The Heart

Day 3

Starting It Off

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8.

I asked several questions yesterday in my |||Day 2: Living From The Heart Article|||. One of the questions that I asked had to do with self worth. I asked, “what is your real worth?” Meaning, what makes people feel valuable? What were we created for? That question had been on my mind for a few days and I decided to open it up to the universe and the readers to see what feedback I would receive. The universe responded to that question by giving me tidbits of information in relation to that very same subject.

By “accident” (there are no accidents), following the information of a dream I had, I came across a video of Oprah Winfrey speaking with a famous author named Toni Morrison. In the video Toni Morrison was speaking about children and how they know your real feelings for them. Not by the what you say, but by how you feel when they are around. She asked a simple question; does your face light up when your children enter the room?

That question sparked an aha moment in Oprah. She responded by saying, “that is how you learn what your value is. Not by what the person is saying to you, but what you feel.” She then, at the end of the video, apart from Toni said, “that is why for so many many years I was a kid with low self esteem. Because nobody’s face or eyes lit up when I entered the space.”

That Was A Part Of The Answer

I totally can relate to that statement. In the article from yesterday I also mentioned that I need to fit in, I need to feel wanted. It is so true. I need to feel validated in some kind of way. Apparently, I am not the only one that feels that way. The video above is one way that the universe answered my question. I turn it back over to you. What is your real worth? What are your ideas on that topic?

I am very excited that the answers to our questions come in many different forms. We just have to be willing to listen for the cues and follow our instincts. That is not the only synchronicity that I experienced throughout my day. There were a few more synchronicities that went right in line with the same topic. It just proves that there is something bigger than us. Whether you call that something God, the universe, or infinite intelligence, it is aware of our questions, and would love to provide answers in a way that we connect with.

Some Inspirational Quotes

I want to share a couple of quotes with you…

You are worthy of being your own best friend. {T.D. Jakes}

What you seek is seeking you. {Rumi}

These quotes are so true. Nothing shifts until you shift. Nothing is answered until you ask. It doesn’t matter if you ask quietly or loudly. It only matters that you ask. The {All That Is} is asking that we dig a little deeper, open our heart, and step out on faith. Once we do that, the answers will then present themselves to us.

Even as I script this post I don’t know all that I am going to say. I have some kind of idea, yes. I even write down bits of insight, but I don’t know all that I am going to say until I actually move through each section. It unfolds to me in the way it needs to be said so that the message can get across best to those who can hear it the fullest.

The One Thing I Never Doubt

If there is one thing that I never lose faith about, it is the fact that there is something bigger than me. There is a source that knows my every nook and cranny. My personal flaws, my emotional turmoil, and the times when my heart lights up with joy. I hope one day I can know it as intimately, attentively, and personally as it knows me.

Sometimes I don’t know how to make life work for me and I must admit that I get pretty stubborn and cry-babyish when things aren’t going my way. I think that when I breathe and settle down however, grace steps in and answers the call. Sometimes I feel like a failure because I don’t fit into specific molds, but I think that very same omniscient presence is whispering, “You aren’t supposed to fit anyone else’s mold. You, yourself, are your own being.”

Sticking It Out

There is no shortage of inspiration. If one idea or one way doesn’t work there’s another idea, and another, and another. Most artists don’t start out doing their very “own” thing. They are always being compared to others or called a wannabe *insert the author’s name here* or a wannabe *insert the musician’s name here*. It’s only in letting go of what we think we should be that allows grace to step in and transform us into the person that it knows we are. So don’t ruin your spirit and artistry by comparing yourself to others and if others say you are a wannabe, turn and walk away. Everyone gradually evolves into the people they are meant to be. Keep your faith, find your value, and share that with the world.

New Inspiration

A new idea sprung from listening to those videos, my love of beautiful things, books, writing, and vintage things. I am going to build a home – online of course – where I can really show my love for writing. It’s going to be a home where I can show quotes, pieces of my writing, and beautiful photos that inspire and uplift. I am not sure how this will unfold but I know that it is going to be beautiful. Here is a collage that shows the essence of the new site.

Collage

It’s going to be a place where I can fall in love with language, writing, and the make-up of story telling. It inspires me just to think about the beauty of it. I hope you come by and visit once it’s up and running.

In Closing

It’s a cold night out. That put on some thick socks, curl up with a warm blanket, and hot cup of tea before bed kind of night. As I drift to sleep tonight thinking about the new beautiful space I am going to create, I will keep you {the reader} in mind. Let me know what you would like to see on the site. If you have suggestions, comments, or ideas leave a message below.

Thanks for reading, sharing, commenting, and following my blog!

What Is Inspiration?

Inspiration

What Is Inspiration?

Something already thought up, dreamt up, or envisioned by the creator and you and I being the vessel from which it flows.

Inspiration is the place where we can experience different pieces of the whole through dance, music, painting, writing, sewing, and any other form of art.

There seems to be a well of possibilities just waiting to be translated. If an art form grabs hold of you, it has obviously chosen you as the perfect medium for some of its greatest expressions.

We all have the ability to create.

It’s A Lifelong Friend

It seems also like there’s a friend listening to us and our deepest desires. It says, “look this way, turn this page, see this blog, call this person.” It’s an inner calling seeing if we can bring life to what it already sees us being able to fulfill.

That’s why artists do what they do. There is no greater love than being able to create.

To somehow believe in yourself and your ability enough to form a possibility into a manifestation.

Wow… Just breathe that in for a minute.

To believe in yourself and your ability enough to form a possibility into a manifestation. {Renee Brooks}

You are the seer, the breath in between, the vessel, and the entire creation all at the same time.

I love it when I don’t know what I am going to write in my own books. I am just as excited as the reader. It’s almost like lock after lock is opening when I write; revealing to me the parts that I am ready to transcribe.

The Spirit Of Inspiration

It’s sitting there waiting to surprise you. It’s like Christmas, or seeing your best friend after years of being apart, or meeting your pet for the first time. It’s that awe, that surprise. That thing that keeps you up late at night, and wakes you up at the crack of dawn. It’s the spirit that makes you want to live. The spirit that helps you move forward with enthusiasm and joy, even though you may not know exactly where you are going.

It’s a trickster sometimes. Elusive at first, but then reveals itself to you in a way that you never expected. It’s the moments when you feel like you are in moments of déjà vu. It’s the moments that smack you in the face (in a good way) and make you believe in your connection and your unique expression in this world.

An Unlimited Resource

It’s a resource that never runs out. It’s a lineage that existed since the beginning of time, and it doesn’t care about your nationality, sexual preferences, hair color, or how many likes you get on a post.

Inspiration only needs two things to flourish. A willing heart & peace with what is. {Renee Brooks}

It works best when you don’t try to box it in. It’s so enormous and out of the box that in order to capture any piece of it, you have to be out of the box as well and in the receiving mode.

For those of you who have felt this kind of inspiration, you know exactly where I am coming from.

Your Biggest Cheerleader

It’s a cheerleader, a coach, a confidant, and an encourager all at the same time. It’s filled with love ready to pour into whomever will receive it. It’s a well of beauty just waiting to be recognized and discovered.

If Inspiration Were A Painting

It would be called a beautiful nightmare. It would sit in front of you in the art gallery calling you towards it. It’s colors and majesty too powerful to soak in all at one time. The intensity of it however would compel you towards it saying, “look at me I am here for all to see, you can grasp me if you just breathe.” Once you relax, you would be able to see the rise and the fall of its waves, the current of its colors, the ups and downs, and its true beauty jump out at you taking you through a whirlwind of emotions. After it sucked you in emotionally it would release you breath by breath until you could see the beauty of its entirety.

Once the painting released you, you would feel heartbroken that it let you go. It would then call you again asking you to take another glimpse. It would then grab hold of you again, filling you up with tears of joy, opening up your heart, and taking you on a completely different ride.

That is my view of inspiration and to sum it all up in layman’s terms,

It’s Life Itself!

From my well of inspiration to your heart.
