Burn Fears Burn

Burn fears burn.

Burn tears burn.

Burn lies burn.

You were never meant for me anyway.

I housed you, gave you shelter, let you reside in my space for way too long.

That’s why I’m being reduced to nothing; I was put together all wrong.

Renewal is coming.

Out of the ashes I will rise.

From behind the shadows I will emerge ~ with my wings spread ~ ready to fly.

Love In Ten Sentences (A Challenge)

LOVE IN TEN SENTENCES CHALLENGE

I was challenged by Lisa from the Real Mom Of Long Island blog for the “Love In Ten Sentences” challenge. Thank you Lisa for thinking of me! I think I am up for it.

I will go ahead and write my version of my love poem in ten sentences, and then I will challenge a few of you to do the same.

The challenge is to write a poem about love and title it “Love in Ten Sentences.” It must have 10 lines, each 4 words long. Every line must contain the word “love.” At the end of the poem, you must include a favorite quote about love. Then challenge fifteen other bloggers.

MY POEM

Love – a baby’s smile

Love – a fresh start

Love – a gentle caress

Love – a warm heart

Love – the sun’s rays

Love – a heartfelt “goodnight”

Love – a peaceful lake

Love – an encouraging “goodbye”

Allow love to rain

Allow love its reign

Love

Writing Prompt Wednesday

WPWEDNESDAY

Hello Writers,

The three writing prompts for the day (October 29th) are listed below. Choose one of the prompts and post your poem or short story in the “leave a comment” section.

Writing prompts are a great way to practice your writing, share your creations, and to see how other writers think. Remember to add emotions, describe the scenes, use your senses (smell, sight, taste, touch, & hearing), be descriptive, and don’t hold back.

1. Write a poem about homelessness using mostly similes and metaphors.

2. Write a short story about a dream you’ve had recently.

3. Write a poem that has a color at the end of every line.

I Chose Writing Prompt # 1

The concrete is my bed
Cardboards are my sheets
A smile is my hope
A hot meal is my reach
The strangers that walk by
See me as a leech
They have no idea
That my heart lost its peace
Degrading like castration
My future’s as bleak
As a bird without wings
It’s unsettling to me
My heart’s as cold as ice
Towards the hand that I’ve been dealt
No money, no life
No warmth to be felt
A hard knock life it is indeed
I can’t wait for the day
That this darkness sets me free

The Path

Path

long and arduous

or stop and stare

filled with joy

or bouts of despair

look up it’s heaven

or the devil’s down there

savoring every moment

or engulfed by fear

tiptoeing as if the grass were asleep

and twirling around with the wind as it speaks

gloom & doom as depression creeps

or move along with my heart at peace

is this right

or is this wrong

am i weak

or am i strong

am I powerful

am i divine

or am I cursed

and running out of time

along the path, the path i go

where i’ll end up, no one knows

What Is Inspiration?

Inspiration

What Is Inspiration?

Something already thought up, dreamt up, or envisioned by the creator and you and I being the vessel from which it flows.

Inspiration is the place where we can experience different pieces of the whole through dance, music, painting, writing, sewing, and any other form of art.

There seems to be a well of possibilities just waiting to be translated. If an art form grabs hold of you, it has obviously chosen you as the perfect medium for some of its greatest expressions.

We all have the ability to create.

It’s A Lifelong Friend

It seems also like there’s a friend listening to us and our deepest desires. It says, “look this way, turn this page, see this blog, call this person.” It’s an inner calling seeing if we can bring life to what it already sees us being able to fulfill.

That’s why artists do what they do. There is no greater love than being able to create.

To somehow believe in yourself and your ability enough to form a possibility into a manifestation.

Wow… Just breathe that in for a minute.

To believe in yourself and your ability enough to form a possibility into a manifestation. {Renee Brooks}

You are the seer, the breath in between, the vessel, and the entire creation all at the same time.

I love it when I don’t know what I am going to write in my own books. I am just as excited as the reader. It’s almost like lock after lock is opening when I write; revealing to me the parts that I am ready to transcribe.

The Spirit Of Inspiration

It’s sitting there waiting to surprise you. It’s like Christmas, or seeing your best friend after years of being apart, or meeting your pet for the first time. It’s that awe, that surprise. That thing that keeps you up late at night, and wakes you up at the crack of dawn. It’s the spirit that makes you want to live. The spirit that helps you move forward with enthusiasm and joy, even though you may not know exactly where you are going.

It’s a trickster sometimes. Elusive at first, but then reveals itself to you in a way that you never expected. It’s the moments when you feel like you are in moments of déjà vu. It’s the moments that smack you in the face (in a good way) and make you believe in your connection and your unique expression in this world.

An Unlimited Resource

It’s a resource that never runs out. It’s a lineage that existed since the beginning of time, and it doesn’t care about your nationality, sexual preferences, hair color, or how many likes you get on a post.

Inspiration only needs two things to flourish. A willing heart & peace with what is. {Renee Brooks}

It works best when you don’t try to box it in. It’s so enormous and out of the box that in order to capture any piece of it, you have to be out of the box as well and in the receiving mode.

For those of you who have felt this kind of inspiration, you know exactly where I am coming from.

Your Biggest Cheerleader

It’s a cheerleader, a coach, a confidant, and an encourager all at the same time. It’s filled with love ready to pour into whomever will receive it. It’s a well of beauty just waiting to be recognized and discovered.

If Inspiration Were A Painting

It would be called a beautiful nightmare. It would sit in front of you in the art gallery calling you towards it. It’s colors and majesty too powerful to soak in all at one time. The intensity of it however would compel you towards it saying, “look at me I am here for all to see, you can grasp me if you just breathe.” Once you relax, you would be able to see the rise and the fall of its waves, the current of its colors, the ups and downs, and its true beauty jump out at you taking you through a whirlwind of emotions. After it sucked you in emotionally it would release you breath by breath until you could see the beauty of its entirety.

Once the painting released you, you would feel heartbroken that it let you go. It would then call you again asking you to take another glimpse. It would then grab hold of you again, filling you up with tears of joy, opening up your heart, and taking you on a completely different ride.

That is my view of inspiration and to sum it all up in layman’s terms,

It’s Life Itself!

From my well of inspiration to your heart.

I would love to hear from you!
