Every Moment Is Brand New

New Moment

This Post Was Inspired FROM A Chapter In the New Book i am writing -(Soul Guidance – Finding Your Way Home).

Where do you feel you’ve gone wrong? Where does your heart ache for a new beginning? Why does your past have you so tight in its grip?

Realize One Thing…

Every moment is brand new. {Renee “Soul Writer” Brooks}

No matter what you feel you’ve done wrong, you have a new moment right now to make it right.

The “rightness” of something has nothing to do with other people’s opinions of it.

The “rightness” of any experience in your life has only to do with you and your peace with what is.

You may not have even made a mistake, but your feelings about it are what causes the dark cloud of regret to hang over your head. You may not have even made the wrong decision, but the weight you carry around about your choice, is what causes you to feel burdened. In any moment, you can make the choice to move in the direction of what feels better.

Every moment is brand new.

The purpose of these words, is for you to see that you don’t have to wallow around in regret. You don’t have to punish yourself for anything that you feel you have done wrong. You have a brand new moment – with each new breath that you take.

If you have been waiting for permission to let go of the past, to forgive yourself, or to get a do over – this is it. You have been granted permission.

Remember from this point forward however, that it is best that you move in the direction of your true spirit, of your true calling, of what your integrity says you should do, according to your own morals and standards, and not according to the will of others.

Moving according to the will of others may be what got you in trouble and in a low place the first, second, and third time around.

There is liberation in the understanding that every moment is brand new.

You can choose from this brand new moment to redirect your energy, turn negative thoughts around, feel things out a bit more, say no when your gut wants to say no, take your time if you feel you need to, and try again, if that’s what the situation calls for.

Once you realize the newness of every moment, you will feel lighter and easier about your life.

The next time that a difficult situation comes around and presents itself to you, you’ll be working from a new understanding. You won’t feel pressured, or hurried, or like your choice is so heavy that it cannot be reworked.

Life will always throw you a new scenario, a new piece, a new opportunity, and a new experience.

Your work is only to recognize the new moment, and follow your inner promptings to rise and meet it.

Nothing is in vain.

Either you grow or you learn.

Things can also change in an instant, but it takes a shift first. That shift comes from within – from a change of perspective, from permission to move on, and from forgiving yourself.

Release the burden right now.

Every moment is brand new.

A Date With The Devil – Cultivating New Ways To Deal With Self-Criticism

Self Criticism

A Date With The Devil… What an interesting concept.

Now before you start pulling out your crosses on me, understand that I am not in any way talking about conjuring evil spirits.

This is a different kind of exercise, and the term devil is being used to describe that negative, demeaning, intolerable, sadistic voice on the inside that shuts down anything positive that tries to emerge from within.

The term “devil” is the perfect word used to describe such a thing.

Think about how many times that voice has reared its ugly head – stopping you from moving forward, freezing you in your tracks, buckling your knees anytime you try to make a move. That voice is debilitating, and it hasn’t made its way into your life overnight. That voice has been around for a very long time. Especially if it’s effecting any area of your life.

Every time you tell yourself that you can’t do something, you’re not qualified, you’re not smart enough, you don’t have enough money, or that you are stupid for considering such a thing, all of those trains of thought group together and the effect of that kind of talk is a monstrous beingness that can’t wait to add its input to your life.

I have an exercise for you.

The purpose of this exercise is to see just how bad this devil has gotten.

Pick a subject that you are disappointed with yourself about. It could be financially related, relationship related, or something personal about yourself.

Sit in a quiet room and on a sheet of regular paper, write down the title of the subject that you are going to write about.

Ex. Ruining My Relationship With My Ex-Boyfriend

Make sure the subject is something that has been on your mind recently and something that carries alot of weight in your life – meaning something that really bothers you.

After you add the title, call forth the voice inside that has something negative to say about this subject. Believe me, it won’t take long for the thoughts to start flowing.

Write down everything that you hear. Try not to judge or defend yourself during this process. Try to just write. Writing will allow you to see just how out of control this monster has gotten. Write until you feel you have had enough.

You may feel overwhelming emotions such as anger, sadness, or resentment, but just keep writing until you are at your wits end.

When you are done, read the message back to yourself.

Take an assessment of how you feel during the entire process.

You will feel powerful emotion surrounding this exercise. This whole process is so that you can bring forth the voices that are hindering your progress in that area. We don’t even realize that these voices eat away at us on a daily basis, and then we wonder why it’s so difficult to progress. Look at all the animosity, hatred, and self-criticism we are holding onto.

After you have settled down and taken an assessment on how you feel, sit with your true beingness for a minute. You should notice right away that, that kind of self talk IS NOT HELPFUL. You will feel the negativity down to your bones. That is a good thing. You will recognize that the negative voice inside is absolutely bonkers, and has wayyyyy too much to say.

Then you have to realize that to “this particular persona” you can do no right. This particular persona only sees all the things that you have done wrong. It’s not taking into account your true intentions, your feelings, the heart you have, or anything like that. This persona only sees negative. It has taken into account only your failures and then bases its opinion off of those facts.

It doesn’t have an accurate picture and it’s not taking the “whole you” into consideration.

Realize that you cannot argue with such a fool, but you can lessen its influence in your experience, and once you have made yourself aware of what you are doing, it will be much easier to notice when that negative persona is creeping up on you. The awareness is all you need in order to start moving in a different direction.

After all of that drama, I want you to write again.

This time, you’re going to write yourself an apology letter. You’re going to apologize for the way that you’ve been treating yourself and for the things that you have been telling yourself. You’re going to let yourself know that you didn’t mean to create such a monster, and that you let a negative comment here and there slip through the cracks – it wasn’t your intention to create a devil inside.

Then I want you to remember one thing, and this one thing will stop you dead in your tracks if this voice presents itself again.

You would never talk to a close friend or loved one the way that you talk to yourself sometimes. So give yourself that same respect. {Renee “Soul Writer” Brooks}

When I had my date with my devil, the word that kept coming up in my letter was worthless. I now think back to what would have happened if I listened to that voice, if I stopped writing, if I stopped believing in myself. I would not have been able to develop this inner well of writing and healing resources to share with you all.

This persona can be very difficult to deal with. It took years to create it, and it will take some time to lessen its influence, but the consequences of not doing it will be a bunch of broken dreams, pain that you can’t figure out where it’s coming from, and a sense of worthlessness inside that cannot be lived with.

It’s worth it to examine some of these thoughts and to put them in their place.

Not by force, but by recognizing what’s happening, and cultivating new ways to see yourself.

Thank you so much for reading!

Healing Your Creativity

Healing

We all have the right to create.

Too often however, our dreams are shattered by things that we aren’t even conscious of.

So today, we are going to take a look at some of the things that may have damaged your creativity, what may have made you put your paintbrush down, cancel that course you were going to take, stop writing, or hang up your guitar.

After we take a look at what may have caused the block in your creativity, we can then start to move in the direction of healing the wounds left behind from it.

The art of healing anything is to get outside of your regular thoughts, to open up to the solutions and ideas that are right in front of you, and to allow a new perspective to sink in.

The art of healing involves trusting your intuition, following your inner promptings, and listening to your heart. If you are someone who has hit a road block in your creative endeavor, your heart is speaking to you right now to tell you, “it can be healed”.

I want you to go back in your mind and try to figure out what made you quit.

Sometimes the influence to give up comes from outside sources – the parents who told us to get real jobs, the friends that thought we were crazy for pursuing our dreams, the dirty looks from those who hold positions of power, and that think “art” is for children – not for adults.

Oh yes… those beautiful influences that are around us! Sarcasm

Those people who may have discouraged you from revealing your creative self are not the disease. They are only a symptom.

Go a little deeper, and try to figure out what made you welcome and accept their authority about “who you are”, rather than your own inner authority.

Why do you feel they know better than you do? Why did you accept their judgment? Why did you believe it when they told you to hang it up? Those are the bigger questions.

Perhaps the problem doesn’t stem from outside at all.

Perhaps the problem comes from inside, and those villains are just the projections of your hidden thoughts.

Think about how many times you may have questioned your authority to write (if you are a writer). How often do you hold yourself back – afraid that you will fail at your artistry? How often do you stifle your words, your flowing art, or your music because you fear you will “sound stupid” or people “won’t get” what you are trying to say? Do you realize now, why these outer roadblocks may be showing up?

It’s not enough to be good at something. You can know that you have what it takes, but listening to that inner voice that has you comparing yourself to others and questioning your authority and place within the world as an artist, is damaging to your creativity.

We are all unique in our individual expression.

If an art form grabs hold of you, it has obviously chosen you as the perfect medium for some of its greatest expressions. {Renee “Soul Writer” Brooks}

You must take your creative power back -back from the recesses of your mind that feed you lies like “you aren’t good enough” or “you don’t have the right to do such a thing”. Back from the predators that are looking to have you do in life what pleases them (your parents, jealous friends, or relentless family members).  Back from the hoarder inside that feeds you lies like “people will steal or take advantage of what I have” or “I don’t have enough”.

These are all lies that have some HOW crept into your psyche.

The healing comes from you realizing that these things are not true. You do have the right to express. Your viewpoint is unique. Your inner resources are not dwindling – they just need to be reawakened – stirred up in a sense.

There are people out there that do connect with your work. Every follower that you have, at some point and time, read and connected with a piece that you wrote. Every fan, listened to and connected with, a piece of your music. Why do we pay attention to that one joker in the bunch that has something to say that’s negative, instead of focusing on why you do what you do, and the people that resonate with what you do?

I have another clue as to what may have caused you to quit.

The fear of exposure. Your art is your heart.

How naked and vulnerable we feel sometimes when our hearts are on display.

When people can see the real you without any hiding.

We tend to give our love (our hearts and our art) to those that we feel care about us the most. It’s a sensitive thing to then try and express your artistry to the public. The public is – well you know – public. It’s an open room where people can actually tell you that they hate your stuff or that they disagree, and the thought of having your life’s work (your baby) in a sense bashed is very upsetting.

The only thing we can do however, is be true to ourselves. That’s it. It’s you and your artistry – that’s it. It’s you expressing your view on the world – that’s it. Who cares if other people don’t resonate with what you put out. I know, I know, it does matter, but we have to grow thicker skin as artists. You have the right to express because you are alive, breathing, and interested in your artistry – that’s it. You don’t need any other justification.

Soul Guidance for Healing Your Creativity

As some of you may have noticed, I have finally introduced my spirit guides known as RAY to the world. We together have come up with the “Soul Guidance Consultations” as a path to help you connect with your true beingness.

For those of you who are not aware of the new Soul Guidance Consultations, you can take a look at the “Work With Me” page.

The spirit guides known as RAY would also like to offer some words of encouragement on healing your creativity.

We are most appreciative to be able to speak with you for just a few moments about your creativity. You are all unique, fascinating, one-of-a-kind beings who are here to make sense of the world around you. You are translating the energy of the world. You are all translators and your unique perspective is relevant. Your healing will come once you recognize that you are all full, mighty beings, who are here to translate this energy into new sources of freedom and greater expression. Once you realize that, you will be unstoppable. Blessings be to you dear one. {RAY}

I have been working with RAY for the past 5 years. It took a few teachers along my path, my inner being, and positive thoughts to help me finally decide to share this resource with the world. I too, thought I wasn’t good enough to enter this writing world and to do spiritual work because of some of my past perceived failures and insecurities. It has been a wonderful journey however, and by sticking with it I have seen my writing transform right in front of my eyes. I have felt messages from RAY come through clearer than they ever have before. I have broken through the blocks that told me “I am not good enough”, because it’s just not accurate.

Once I realized that and changed my thoughts, the well of resources opened and began to flow. These posts are a symbol of my well of resources flowing. It’s time for you to open and allow yours to flow as well.

If you are interested in healing this area of your life, take a look at the “Soul Guidance Consultations” page. There are 3 different levels of service that I provide for any of you who are seeking guidance.

Thank you so much for reading!

Happy Healing!

Freedom Friday: Manifesting The Space I Desire Most

Set Yourself FreeMy Freedom Friday Post Is About What I Desire Most

post

For this Freedom Friday post I figured I’d share one of my dreams with you.

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted a house.

Even when I was a preteen, I use to look through the pages of the magazines and catalogues that would come in the mail and visualize me walking through one of those beautiful mansions – that from my childhood perspective – seemed very easy to get. Through my childhood eyes, I needed nothing more than to wish for something, and one day it would appear (so I thought).

But my dream of owning a home wasn’t just to satisfy my materialistic needs. There is something about the thought of having a space of my own that just means the world to me. Something about the thought of building a warm, comfortable, inviting space that just gives me the feeling of purpose.

For some reason, I feel that I was made to create an inviting home.

Now I know that may sound crazy to some of you, but I cannot explain my strong desire to own my own home in any other way, other than I was born to obtain it.

It’s just like I felt about my son. I knew that I always wanted to be a mother. Life’s circumstances and many personal things caused me to not be able to have a child for a very long time. I was devastated when I hit the 30 year old mark and thought that my dream of becoming a mother would never happen. I even wrote a poem one day stating that “I wasn’t fit to be a mother”, that’s why God hadn’t given me a child yet. That could be the only reason from my perspective. I wanted a child sooooo bad, and God wouldn’t grant me that wish. So to me, I had done something wrong and I wasn’t fit to be a mom (in my mind).

I couldn’t understand why I would have such a huge desire in my heart and not be able to fulfill it. But on August 13th of this year – my son was born. I have never felt so alive in my entire life other than every moment of my pregnancy and everyday afterwards that I look at my son. It truly is a dream come true.

The desire for my home feels like the strong desire I had to have a son.

It’s more than just getting a house though. Sometimes, I don’t even know how to explain the strong desire, but I am going to try to, because part of me feels like I am standing in my way of receiving this blessings. So I figure if I just share what I dream of and why, it may somehow loosen up the resistance I have inside to receiving such a beautiful space.

I think part of the thing blocking my home is the fact that I am not completely comfortable with who I am yet. I always call “home” – the place inside where you are comfortable with who you are and what you do.

If I don’t feel at “home” with myself – there is no possible way that I can own my own home physically. I believe that alot of what we create has to do with the thoughts that we think and how we feel about ourselves. Lord knows if I could get some kind of grasp on how this whole spiritual/physical thing works, I would be unstoppable. I yearn for understanding. Not just to get things… but to feel like I belong here and like I have a purpose here. Ya know?

How can I feel at home with myself when I feel like I stripped myself of all financial security? The means for my living right now is being channelled through my husband. I haven’t made any money for myself in a few years – even though I have put my blood, sweat, and tears into my writing and other areas as well. It’s demoralizing to feel that I can’t support myself. It seems as if anything I try to do outside of a 9 to 5 job fails. As if the universe is saying, “you are only meant to work for or under someone else. You aren’t meant to be on your own or realize your own dreams.” It’s heartbreaking.

This is one of the big reasons why I haven’t received my home. I am not financially prepared (at all) to obtain such a thing. You would think that with such a huge desire to own my own space, that somehow I would start attracting circumstances to support that dream, but I haven’t been able to do it, and it’s just hurting me so bad.

But if there is one thing that I learned from having my son it’s that – my thoughts about it were mislead. I was worthy of having a son – it’s just that I thought I wasn’t because it was delayed.

Whenever I get discouraged about not getting something that my heart desires for my life, I try to remember a quote.

“Every delay is not a denial.” {Author Unknown}

God knows, that I desire nothing more right now than to own my own home. I don’t know why. I just have a strong urge inside. I am trying everything that I can to build that “home” internally first so that the result of that progress will then be the physical manifestation of my home.

It just feels like it’s taking an eternity, and I feel like I am so far away from it with no help or support as to how to reach the goal. I don’t know… maybe one day I will figure it out.

Sometimes we just have to let out how we feel. It doesn’t do us any good to keep our strongest feelings bottled up inside. I don’t think it does any good to complain all the time either. So I decided to just kind of put words to what’s going on inside. It helps me make sense of how I am feeling. That’s what writers do.

Freedom Friday Introduction

Set Yourself Free

Welcome To Freedom Friday!

Sounds Cool – But What Is It?

Freedom Friday is where you get to come clean about the things that are heavy on your heart. Every Friday you get to come to this space and release any feelings that you may have pent up inside. This space is not a space for you to be judged or criticized. It’s not a space where you will be graded on your writing or red-marked for your spelling or grammar.

This space was created for you to release your pain through writing, to write about the things that give you a sense of freedom, and to express yourself freely. Sometimes we hold things in, and it winds up hindering our truest expression. The burden of such things weighs on us like a ton of bricks. Freedom Friday is a day where you have permission to lay that burden down.

This space is a space where you get to acknowledge your feelings, express them, make amends with them, and then set them free. It’s a purification exercise that I believe will free up some more space for your creative expression to flow more abundantly.

Are you ready to cleanse yourself of the feelings you have been holding inside? If so, don’t forget to click the “leave a comment” button at the top of the post, and share your story. If you prefer to share the post on your own blog please be sure to add the words Freedom Friday to your post & link back to this post.

The Top 5 Reasons I Love To Write

write

Reason #1: To Express My Thoughts & Emotions

If I don’t write to empty my mind, I go mad. – Lord Byron

It’s so true, isn’t it? There are so many other ways to express yourself, but for me writing seems to be the way that is most natural. I could have easily just picked another craft to indulge in, but there is something about writing that just delights my soul. With so many emotions and thoughts flowing through us there has to be some kind of outlet.

For as long as I can remember I carried a notebook around with me. Whether it was venting to my best friend about my annoying teachers back in high school, writing letters to those who hurt me deeply, or just writing down 100 reasons why I loved someone near and dear, writing has been a way to make sense of all the emotions and thoughts that flow through me.

Reason #2: Freedom

If I wanted to write a story about pink fairies, in purple dresses, dancing around a small pond filled with sugar – I could!

I love that writing has no restrictions. I can be as sinister or as ethereal as I want to be. When I put pen to paper there is no telling what my crazy mind may conjure up. I can go as far as I want to go, dig into any topic that delights me, travel to the darkest corners of my mind, and excavate treasures that are beyond my wildest dreams.

There is freedom in writing and freedom is what our soul cries out for.

Reason # 3: I Am Judge, Jury, & Executioner

And I don’t have to feel bad about it either. I love the fact that I am the one who sets all the rules in my writings. I am the God of the story! I give all of my characters their motives, intentions, desires, and their path. I get to say who stays and who goes. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it!

As writers, we get to create and govern the worlds that we dream up. We are the police officers, the priests, the wanderers, the lost souls, the animals, the rioters, the angels, and the demons of our stories.

Reason # 4: I Get To Experience Different Parts Of Myself

Ohhhhh how I loved experiencing myself as a black panther named “Jungle Cat” in my novel Journey Through Sattara. The power and influence of that animal in my story helped me see the power and influence that I have within me. (*Spoiler Alert*) The fact that I could dream up an animal that plays such a huge part in the survival of Ne’Ya and Su”Ma (the two main characters of the novel), is amazing to me. The characters that we give life to in our stories are the parts of ourselves that want to be expressed. Who knew that I was that powerful, that fearless, and that instinctual? If you haven’t read Journey Through Sattara yet, it’s about time that you get a copy.

Reason #5: For The Fantasies

“Why can’t you just say it? Are you attracted to me Mr Jones?”

He didn’t answer. He just dropped his head again.

“I think I am going to head home now,” he said as he put the glass to his lips to finish off his drink.

“Why?” I asked curiously.

“Because if I stay here, I am going to be very disrespectful to you.”

– Excerpt From My Novel Hooked On The Jones

It doesn’t matter if we say it or not – we live in our minds. We are always daydreaming about things that society would deem inappropriate. Writing helps us act out those fantasies without causing too much trouble. The character Leslie that I dreamt up in my Hooked On The Jones book is smart, sexy, and well put-together. Those are all qualities that are acceptable in today’s society. (*Spoiler Alert*) But add a Manhattan apartment, a powerful business man, and a few drinks and suddenly you have a scene that if lived out in real life, would have your momma smack you across the face.

We have all dreamed about crossing boundaries and doing things way outside of our character. Writing allows you the freedom to do it, but without ruining your marriage or life afterwards.

In Closing

Writing is a way of life. It’s how we express ourselves and communicate how we feel. We create worlds with our words and words have power. I have always believed that. You can write a few sentences and crush someone’s spirit to the point of no return or you can write a story that inspires a nation, that heals, and that unites. My book Mother Father God is a perfect example of that.

Writing is in me. I may not form my sentences in ways that everyone deems appropriate, but there are stories to be told, and energy that would like to be expressed. I write because I believe I was chosen to write. I believe there is Great Spirit that has something to say and it comes to me (in the form of inspiration), because I am the perfect person to say it.

I don’t know why, but apparently it sees something in me. It sees something in the experiences that I’ve gathered throughout life. It sees something in the way that I put words together. It feels something in my heart that is a match to its spirit. What could be more exciting than an unseen force wanting to speak, and choosing you to script the story that it wants to tell?

How about you? Why do you love to write?

Cut Your Hair Or Face Expulsion

Vanessa Vandyke

What Is Wrong With This Picture?

Absolutely nothing! This is a beautiful young girl who is an honor student at Faith Christian Academy in Orlando, Florida. According to the Huffington Post Article, Vanessa VanDyke (shown above) was told to cut her natural hair or leave the academy.

This is not the first time that school officials have chosen “hair” to determine the validity of a young black child. Just a couple of months ago Tiana Parker, age 7 (shown below), had to switch schools because she was forbidden to wear her dreadlocks. She was told that her hairstyle wasn’t presentable for the school.

Tiana Parker

Emotional About This

Just yesterday I was scheduled to interview with a company. Back in July I shaved my hair because it was growing unevenly. I now have somewhat of a mini afro. Before I went on the interview I had to decide what to do with my hair. I am not ashamed of my mini fro, I just know that in the professional world they expect you to look a certain way. So the only other alternative was to cornrow my hair (pictures will follow). I thought about it and that’s what I decided to do.

The thing that bothers me the most is that I even had to consider altering my natural hairstyle to fit into the professional world. Even after I braided my hair, I still had some qualms about if I would be “accepted” or not.

This Is Not Just A Black Thing

There aren’t that many things that burn me up inside. When I saw the article about this little girl told to cut her hair or face expulsion I was angry. I cannot stand to see people, especially young children, being picked on or undervalued because of what they look like. I have a huge heart for diversity and freedom. I cannot stand the thought of people picking on or beating down people for their differences. It is just something that doesn’t sit right within me. So, I had to say something about it.

Bringing Awareness To This Issue

I think that what needs to be done about this is to just spread the word. Information travels fast in this day and age. I agree that some rules need to be in place to have organizations run smoothly. I have nothing against business owners, school administrators, and people in head positions having some kind of rules in place to keep their organization orderly. My only problem with the rules is that, you can’t shift and cater them against certain people. We are all ONE PEOPLE. Whether you like it or not. Get used to.

What choice does this little girl’s mother have? Tell her to cut her hair and deny who she is or yank her from that damn school? What choice are they giving her? If she makes her daughter cut her hair, she is telling her to deny who she is. If she yanks her out of the school she then has a problem with the laws that say that she has to be in school in the first place. The other solution is to just find another school that accepts her the way she is. That may just be the best way to go.

We have to be careful about what message we are sending out into the world. I can’t imagine what these two young ladies feel like inside to be told – you aren’t good enough for our establishment- because of your hair.

Words Of Encouragement

Both of these young ladies are beautiful. They should not have to change their hair to fit in. We need to stop being so concerned about what is on the outside and see what is on the inside. I am an adult who sees how difficult it is to fit into certain parts of society; no child should ever have to feel like that. It’s too much for an adult. I can only imagine what it must feel like for a child.

Be Yourself. You Are Worthy and Relevant in this world. Maybe not in certain clubs or schools, but God breathed life into you. In God’s eyes, you are meant to be – just as you are! {Renee Brooks}

Perhaps some people did not hear India Arie’s message – I Am Not My Hair. So for those who haven’t heard it. Take a listen. You might learn something.

Freedom, The Heart Of An Artist, & My Newest Creation

The Su’Ma Character

Su’Ma is a boy with a lion’s heart whose passion is channeled through a blade.

How many of you have come face to face with your destiny? Su’Ma is that kind of character. When he comes face to face with his destiny nothing can stop him from fulfilling his purpose. He is the kind of character that says, “I don’t care about your rules, your codes of conduct, or how you have done things in the past – this is my life, I am nobody’s property, and I will protect my precious gift at all costs.

I know the men out there would definitely be able to relate to his character. Men have a burning desire to protect their family at all costs. It’s a survival mechanism that is imbedded deep in the hearts of all men. They are the protectors of the group.

Su’Ma is the kind of character that would say, “I have to stand up, do the right thing, and be a man regardless of what tradition, laws, and rules have taught me.”

He would stand up to his father and say, “You prepped me father, you helped me, you shaped me, but now I am growing into the man that you prepared me to be. You cannot hold me down with force, punishment, or ridicule.”

Ne’Ya, the other star of Journey Through Sattara, is Su’Ma’s reason for living. She has a huge purpose to fulfill. The women of the world would be able to relate to her character because she is a nurturer, she’s strong, and carries her tribe’s legacy on her back willingly. Together they reach into the center of the struggle and strife between their tribes and force them to choose; your love or your hatred. At the end end of the story only one survives.

Isn’t that what triumph is about? It’s about overcoming your personal demons. The ones that knock on the door of your brain and tell you to quit and to give up. The demons that whisper, “It’s too hard, it’s against the rules, no one will understand you.”

As A Writer

As a writer you have to know what you are writing for. I personally write for the freedom to be able to express myself in a world of repression, judgment, and constriction. I write to be free, to tap into the unlimited pool of knowledge, and to spread new ideas.

There’s a struggle going on in our world. It’s the struggle for power and money. There are senseless killings, greed, and calamity all over the world and I hate to be the bearer of bad news – We Are All A Part Of It. Simply because we are sitting back watching it happen within ourselves and doing absolutely nothing about it.

I hear the question all the time… how can there be world peace? The answer is dauntingly simple, but a lot of people are refusing to see the truth.

If Everyone Found Peace Within Themselves There Would Be World Peace

If Everyone Allowed Others To Simply Be Themselves There Would Be World Peace

If Everyone Didn’t Take Things So Personally There Would Be World Peace

If Peopled Didn’t Feel The Need To Control & Dominate There Would Be World Peace

Your Words Have Power

I am here to say that you don’t need a gun, knife, or bombs to kill people. People kill the human spirit with their words and actions every single day. We just have to be conscious of what we write about, blog about, post, and do to other people.

I can’t stop anyone from doing anything, but I can write in hopes that people will see the rawness and honesty in my books and perhaps change their perspective on things.

It doesn’t take that much. Just a few words, a post, a blog, a song, or a dance that comes straight from the heart. Something that you can’t hold in no matter how hard you’ve tried. For years I held in my passion, afraid of what others would say or think. Afraid of not being able to do things “correctly”. Yes, I admit. I went through my own personal hell with some of the choices that I made regarding following my heart’s desire, but in the end – just like in my books – love and passion always wins. The source that wrote the story of life had a beautiful concept in mind. Love always wins. Always.

The Reason For Writing Journey Through Sattara

Journey Through Sattara is a story about the Journey Through Life. It just happens to take place in a jungle with Ne’Ya and Su’Ma as the main characters. When you get a chance to read the book, picture each character as a part of yourself. It will then be easy to see what we struggle with as human beings, the demons from the past that haunt us, and the shame that we feel when our needs and dreams need to be heard.

Artistry, Life, and My Books are about standing up to the society that we live in and the demons that scare us to death. If you don’t like the rules, codes of conduct, or what you have experienced so far… It Is Your Destiny To Change It. That’s why you are here, that’s why you are reading this post, that’s why it is speaking to you in the way that it is.

We can change our own world one step at a time. Stand up for what you believe in. Let your voice be heard. Say no to things that you don’t prefer and hell yes to the things that you are passionate about.

In case anyone is wondering… that is the reason why I write!
