Recipe For Authenticity

recipe

I use to go nuts whenever I use to hear the message “be authentic”.

It use to drive me crazy because “in my mind”, I was being authentic.

So I didn’t know why the universe was going out of its way to keep delivering this message to me. To me, I was following my dreams, I was doing all the right things, so why did the “be authentic” message keep coming up?

The message kept coming up because I wasn’t relating to or understanding it in a way that resonated with me. So just remember that – if you keep seeing a message, it is trying to show you something important, but in a way that is meaningful to you.

While decoding one of my dreams, I found out exactly what my soul was conveying by saying “be authentic”, and I created a little recipe that you might enjoy.

Recipe For Authenticity

Living authentically means to honor your calling, your dreams, and yourself.

First (1st), you have to believe that anything you desire is possible for your life.

A dream (something your heart longs for) occurs to you because it’s something that the inner you can see “fulfilled” in your life. If it’s a thought, that means it’s a possibility. If you have a dream, it’s because the inner part of you knows that your particular skills, drive, and nature can see it into manifestation. Trust this!

Second (2nd), you have to transform any deep fears and negative beliefs that are contradictory to what you desire.

For example, if you want a connection to the divine, but secretly believe that God is punishing you for some wrongdoing – those are contradictory beliefs and they keep you from the connection that you desire.

Do the work to clean up your beliefs about it. Find easier thoughts about it, and try viewing things from a different perspective. Do anything you can, to clear up any contradictory thoughts that keep you from your heart’s desire.

Third (3rd), get rid of anything in your life that does not support your highest good.

If there are negative people or situations in your life that keep you from living your calling or following your dreams – kindly move on from them. Not out of animosity, but out of respect for your life.

Fourth (4th), always speak your truth.

Sometimes you have to stand up for yourself and declare your space here and that’s fine. It’s never wrong for you to stand up for what you believe in. As a matter of fact, it’s a part of who you are. You don’t have to go on and on about it or argue until the day is over about it, but it is important for you to let others know the truth of who you are – if it is ever called in for questioning. Don’t be afraid to express that you are good, worthy, and relevant.

So those are the 4 ingredients.

#1 Believe In What You Desire + #2 Transform Your Deepest Fears and Negative Beliefs + #3 Get Rid Of Anything That Does Not Support Your Highest Good + #4 Always Speak Your Truth = Authenticity (honoring yourself, your dreams, and your calling).

Inner Work – The Part Of Ourself That Blocks Our Blessings

Blocking Your Blessings

I was studying one of my dreams, and it pointed me in the direction of something that I need to face within myself.

I’m sure alot of you face this same issue from time to time.

We all want the best out of life, we pray for more blessings, for healing, and to have our spirits uplifted, but we sometimes don’t realize that we block the very things we are praying for.

I mean, how comfortable have you gotten with telling yourself you can’t do something, it can’t be that easy, or that you don’t have the support you need? We stay wrapped in that frame of mind so much that when the blessings do come, we can’t recognize them.

When you are angry, upset, or feeling down – the last thing that you want to hear is some Pollyanna Princess or Mr. Do Good telling you to let things go or to cheer up. Their messages are so clear and they give you a direct route to the answers that you have been seeking, but you are in such a bad mood sometimes that you don’t even realize what’s being spoken – so clearly.

Have you ever been there?

We must understand that our prayers are always being answered – always. We just aren’t attuned to hearing the solutions all of the time.

An answer to one of your prayers could be as simple as someone saying,

Believe

Think of how many times you have listened to a positive quote for a minute and then your mind switched back to all of the reasons why you couldn’t honor that positive quote. Your responses may sound something like this, “I’m too tired, I’ve tried everything, I’ve prayed endlessly, I’ve done this, this, and that, I see no future for me.”

Just Stop For A Minute!

Recognize what you are doing…

Someone said to you as clear as day, “Just believe in yourself”.

That’s it. That was your only task. It was the answer, and you took a different route, backpedalled through your past, and then drew the conclusion that the “positive talk” was bullshit because you attracted a situation that confirmed all the negative thoughts you were thinking.

If you would have turned those negative thoughts around and really believed in yourself, you would have attracted a different circumstance, and then your conclusion would have been completely different.

Someone calls you beautiful, and you shy away from the compliment. Someone leaves a nice comment on one of your pages, and you wonder what their “real” intention is for leaving such nice words. Someone offers you help, and you think it’s because they want or need something from you.

Why is it so difficult for us to just accept our goodness and our answers without the idea that something is going to go wrong, someone is out to get me, or this feeling won’t last long?

Why is it so hard for us to believe that we are the right person for the job, we are at the right place at the right time, and the resources to support us will line up once we get comfortable with that knowing?

Maybe someone stripped your joy away in the past. So you hold on so tight to certain things because you don’t believe that you are powerful enough or worthy enough to attract more things that bring you joy. Or perhaps someone told you that you would never make it. So you get the impulse to try something new, and then give up before it even has wings strong enough to fly.

You have to realize that there is higher part of you wanting nothing more than to link you with your goodness, power, and potential. But how many times do we repress this spirit because we don’t believe what it’s trying to tell us?

The bottom line is this…

If you have been asking, wishing, hoping, and praying for something, your answers are being delivered to you right here – right now.

Believe In Yourself

I didn’t say conjure old ideas about yourself. I didn’t say phone a friend to see if they agree. I didn’t say check with your brother, mother, or sister to see what their opinions are about you. I said, believe in yourself.

That means you have to find ways to honor and respect the totality of who you are, feel comfortable with who you are, and feel confident with the palette of life that has been laid before you. There is an infinite space of potential that we all have access to.

Anything can be created from the infinite – anything!

Set your true self free.

Soul Research – Examining The Things You Love

Love

Soul research – I Love That term

what I am pointing towards by using the term “soul research” is the uncovering of parts of yourself that you never knew existed.

If you are wandering through life, still not sure of who you are or what your purpose is here, take a look at the things that you love.

I bet alot of you don’t know that the things you love most, are parts of who you are.

And those of you who do know that, probably never thought about it as a way to see what your true expression is in life.

Take a minute to think about all of things you find beautiful or oddly attractive. Think about your favorite holidays and activities. Think about the things you would do if you had all the time in the world.

For me, my favorite holiday is Thanksgiving.

Yes, thanksgiving – even above Christmas and New Years.

If I think about all the reasons why I love Thanksgiving, I can see that the holiday embodies my true spirit.

I think of inviting those into my home who I love the most. I think of cooking and preparing food with love. I can see the abundance spread out before me even as I think of these words to script. I love the thought of setting up an abundant meal. I love the thought of also having drinks available for people before they even realize they are thirsty.

I prepare a place for them to kick off their shoes, relax and be pampered, and make sure there is enough food left over for them to savor the next day.

My love of Thanksgiving shows my love for feeding the soul, for spreading abundance, and for nourishing others. Hence the reason why my work is geared towards inner work (work having to do with the soul).

I love big cats

In particular leopards, tigers, and black panthers.

I love their wild side. I love that they demand respect and that they cover their territory fiercely. I see that they also aren’t afraid to indulge in a good meal, and that they don’t feel the least bit bad about fending for themselves. Their spirit is wild, free, and uninhibited.

That is in essence – my truest expression.

Protecting my dreams, being a guardian to my loved ones, providing for my family, and the thrill of the hunt (seeking, finding, and then indulging).

I love lilies

I took a quiz one time just for the heck of it. The quiz was named – What Kind Of Flower Are You? I didn’t even really need to take the quiz. I already knew what the answer was because I am so drawn to lilies. Anyway, I took the quiz and the answer was (surprise surprise) – LILY.

It’s something about their subtleness and their beautiful scent. They don’t even have to be striking in color or heavily scented to get recognition. They kind of just own their space, and call you towards them. Although there are some lilies that are flamboyant and multicolored, I prefer the lilies that are white with little pink spots (they remind me of beauty marks).

Lilies too, remind me of my true nature. Not too outspoken or boisterous. Not screaming out for attention. Just kind of playing my music and scent softly in the background and drawing people towards it.

you can discover alot by examining what you love

I bet alot of the gamers out there don’t even realize that their love for gaming stems from a broader knowing. There is something about the idea of virtual reality that draws them to gaming. The idea of making something out of nothing or of bringing the seemingly impossible to life. The gamers out there are visionaries. They have minds that can bring the unseen into existence. The gamers sense that things should be as easy as plugging in a few codes, and getting anything that you want. There is a part of them that knows that nothing is impossible – the good, the bad, and even the ugly.

Follow your bliss {Joseph Campbell Quote}

I know almost all of you have heard this quote, but how many of us actually take this quote seriously. We think sometimes that it’s some airy fairy concept, but it is truly what will help you discover who you are.

Like I said, we don’t even realize that the things we love the most are parts of who we are, and by examining those things we love, we find out our true nature, we find out our soul’s expression, we find out the purpose of why we are here.

So many of us walk around lost because we are searching for our souls. Our souls are not lost. It’s the discovery of who we are that we are really looking for. Not finding ourselves – like we are out there lost some where. It’s not about that. It’s about extracting the parts of yourself that are beautiful and that are a treasure for the world.

I did not and do not make New Year’s resolutions

What I did promise myself however, was that I would follow my bliss (even if only for a couple of days a month). I started to make a list of the things that I really wanted to do, the places I really wanted to go, and put my energy towards things that I really enjoyed.

One of the things on my list was visiting the library. Now, I am a writer – so it is baffling (to even me) that before last month, I had not signed up for the public library in my town. Blank stare – I know right.  I had visited every bookstore in my area, but had never signed up for the public library.

To make a long story short, I signed up, and felt right at home.

I went in looking for the book “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron.

The book wasn’t there, but the resource desk led me to a section where other books in that genre were. As soon as I went to the section I was drawn to a book, and when I plucked it off the shelf, would you believe, that it was another one of Julia Cameron’s books – The Vein Of Gold. I chose that book and went about all of my other selections in the same way (following my intuition).

When I got home, I couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into them.

The books were so inspiring that I started to feel my real connection to my writing. I started to recognize that my real work had to do with “Soul Work”. Not altering or changing the soul, but working to help others uncover their true soul. I changed my direction, found my niche, and have been willingly opening to the flow of its resources every since.

My work is soul work

And I discovered that by following my bliss.

I love how the path lights up along the way. You know without a doubt that you are on the right path sometimes because things just click into place. You know because it wakes you up in the middle of the night. You know because before you can even blink, you read an article that confirms all the stuff you were just pondering. I love moments like those.

All of this happened in a relatively short amount of time, and with just a couple of intentions (to follow my bliss and to to pay attention to what I really loved and desired for my life).

Inspiration only needs two things – a willing heart & peace with what is. {Renee “Soul Writer” Brooks}

Try this exercise

When you have some time, write down 10 odd things that you love.

Leave some space so that you can write out why you love those 10 things.

See if you can see any connections to your true nature. Examining these things may show you the direction you need to take in your art or in your business. It may help you discover what comes naturally to you. You may even get some ideas of a product or a service to create. There is no end to self-discovery. It’s alot of fun once you start to uncover all the beautiful things about yourself that you may not have ever noticed existed.

Thank you so much for reading!

Happy Soul Researching!

Inner Work – Rebuilding Yourself

rebuilding

Some of us have foundations that we can no longer live with.

The damage is so bad in some areas that we can no longer call someone else to patch the problem up for us.

There may be skilled workers who have even told you that you need to rebuild, but instead you have put tape over areas that need to be completely excavated.

There may have been earth angels in the form of humans who have told you that the land is nice, but the structure that your house was built upon is old, unstable, and in need of repair.

Sometimes (bless our hearts), we can’t hear it.

It takes alot for some of us to realize that although our parents meant well, they may have steered us off course. It takes alot for us to realize that our teachers were just doing their job, but not teaching their hearts. It takes alot for us to realize that although our family and friends mean well, their opinions of our life stem from a place of fear and not of love.

The point that I am trying to make here, is that we don’t realize the power that others have over our life. Everything that we were taught, all the stories we were told, and all the opinions that were offered to us, shaped who we have become. It built our character. Every “no”, every “you can’t”, and every “are you crazy” got engrained into our system.

It shows up in the way that we approach our intimacy, in the way that we create our art, in the way we withhold ourselves from those we say we love. It shows up in the sneakiest ways. The desires that got buried within us during our childhood lurk underneath the surface, threatening to swallow us whole if we dare take peek to see what might be there.

What’s worse is that the call of our spirit is pulling us in the right direction and because we have that tension inside we think there’s something wrong with us.

We shun our desires, our hopes, and dreams because they don’t fit with what we were taught. We give up on our passions because it’s not what “our father” wanted us to be. We stuff our emotions because society expects you to have it all together, keep it all together, and not show any sign of the contrary.

What a miserable way to live!

It’s time to rebuild yourself, and only you can do it.

I’ve known for a long time that it was time to gut my whole foundation. It consisted of too many heartbreaks, too many disappointments, and too many rejections. It spoke nothing of the true me. Why hang on to something that does not make you feel your absolute best? Why hang on to something that kills you inside a little more – every time you think about it? Out of loyalty? Out of respect? Out of cherishing a memory?

We are all taught to never forget, but too often we link that with “hold on to this and don’t let it go”, even though it may be time to let it go.

The rebuilding process takes alot of work.

It does. Trust me.

I liken the process to building a house. There’s alot of workers involved. Each skilled in their particular area. You want the process to go as smoothly as possible, but there are some bumps along the way. You have to learn to trust the process; which is not easy for some of us.

It’s an annoyance not to be able to see the fruition of your work right away.

It’s a headache when things don’t go according exactly to plan, but the goal is to keep your eyes on the prize.

The journey of rebuilding yourself is tough sometimes. You go through your closets and you want to keep your old stuff, but it’s time sweetheart – it’s time.

You feel anger when you have spent more time and energy than you wanted to spend, but keep your eyes on the prize.

What is the prize?

The prize is a brand new you.

The prize is you being able to not only understand what love is, but to also allow and give it.

The prize is you offering yourself respect, the benefit of the doubt, and space for your real dreams to grow.

The prize is you looking in the mirror and not turning away from who you see.

The prize is you not second guessing your intuition and your strength.

You are capable of giving yourself all of the things that you never received when you were young. You are capable of nurturing yourself enough to let your dreams grow.

Too often we give that power over to someone else.

We look around for the person who hurt us sometimes when they are dead and gone.

We expect the person who broke our heart to come back and apologize when they have moved on with their life.

We expect those who have done us wrong to show up and right that wrong, when in reality, they aren’t even thinking about what they did to you because some don’t see it in the way that you do.

If we only realized we have the power to rebuild ourselves.

Your not looking for their apology. You are looking for permission. Permission to move on, permission to listen to yourself, permission to allow yourself the space to grow.

No one else can start this process for you. And if you have already started it, no one else can finish it for you. You have to see it through. The rewards are plenty.

You’ll be a new person. A person that accepts compliments, that’s open and receptive, someone that’s eager to give, slow to anger, and a shining light for all to see.

The process is somewhat painful, confusing, and downright earth shattering at times to excavate years of damage, but once it’s done you can once and for all, be comfortable with the person that you’ve become. Then that will translate in your work, in your art, in your heart, in your relationships, and in all the rest of your life.

The prize is worth the journey.

Happy Rebuilding!
